의무기록, 영상 데이터 등 다양한 임상 데이터 및 건강보험 청구자료 등 전국민 기반의 국가 자료를 이용하여 여러 안과 질환의 역학, 원인, 위험인자 및 예후를 밝히는 연구를 수행하고 있음. 기계학습 및 모바일 헬스케어 시스템을 이용하여 굴절이상, 각막염, 건성안 등 다양한 안과적 질환 뿐 아니라 전신질환을 예측하고 진단하는 알고리즘 개발 및 관련 의료기기 장비 개발을 수행하고 있음. 백내장 및 노안 교정과 관련된 근거 기반 의료기술 최적화 연구를 수행하고 있음. 굴절이상 및 다양한 각막질환의 치료를 위한 각종 전임상, 중개연구 및 임상연구를 수행하고 있음.
